Who is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj?
=> An unforgettable brave warrior of the entire Maratha Dynasty who makes all the Mughal Dynasty sit on their knee. He fought the Mughal Empire of Aurangzeb (last great Mughal Emporer) for many years and dusted the Mughal army. Shivaji Maharaj had his first encounter with the Mughals in the year 1656-57. After the death of Sultan Adilshah (ruler of Sultanate) of Bijapur, there was an atmosphere of anarchy, taking advantage of which the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb invaded Bijapur. On the other hand, Shivaji also attacked Junnar city and captured a lot of Mughal land or area and more than 200 horses. As a result, Aurangzeb was angry with Shivaji. When later Aurangzeb imprisoned his father Shah Jahan and became the Mughal Emperor, by then Shivaji had spread his feet all over the South. Aurangzeb was also familiar with this. He appointed his maternal uncle Shaista Khan as the Subedar( a mid-level junior commissioned officer) of the South for the purpose of keeping control over Shivaji. Shaista Khan, on the strength of his around 2,00,000 armies soldiers, took a lot of looting in Maval, taking over the fort of Supan and Chakan. When Shivaji came to know about the looting in Maval, he thought of taking revenge and attacked Shaista Khan with his 350 Mavis. In this attack, Shaista Khan managed to escape, but in this sequence, he had to lose his four fingers. Later Aurangzeb made Shahzada Muazzam the Subedar of the South.

Aurangzeb later called him to Agra to make a treaty with Shivaji but angered by not getting proper respect there, Shivaji showed his fury in the filled court and accused Aurangzeb of betrayal. Angered by this, Aurangzeb imprisoned him in the Agra Fort and guarded 5000 soldiers, but on the strength of his courage and intelligence, he managed to dodge the soldiers and escape from there later you will see how he escaped from the Mughals. Shivaji Maharaj had defeated the Mughal army many times during his lifetime. Later on 3rd April 1680, Shivaji Maharaj died, but even today the world has not forgotten his valor and courage. His favorite and famous fighting style is Guerilla War which now also used by the Indian army to defeat the enemies.

Arrested by Mughals
In 1666, Aurangzeb wants to meet Shivaji to Agra, along with his nine-year-old son Sambhaji. Aurangzeb's plan was to send Shivaji to Kandahar, which is now in Afghanistan, to consolidate the Mughal empire's northwestern frontier. However, in the court, on 12th May 1666, Aurangzeb made Shivaji stand behind Mansabdars (military commanders) of his court. Shivaji took offense and stormed out of court, and was promptly placed under house arrest under the watch of Faulad Khan, Kotwal of Agra.
Shivaji's position under house arrest was perilous, as Aurangzeb's court debated whether to kill him or continue to employ him, and Shivaji used his dwindling funds to bribe courtiers to support his case. Orders came from the emperor to station Shivaji in Kabul, which Shivaji refused. Instead, he asked for his forts to be returned and to serve the Mughals as a mansabdar; Aurangzeb rebutted that he must surrender his remaining forts before returning to Mughal service. Shivaji managed to escape from Agra, likely by bribing the guards, though the emperor was never able to ascertain how he escaped despite an investigation. Popular legend says that Shivaji smuggled himself and his son out of the house in large baskets, claimed to be sweets to be gifted to religious figures in the city.
