International Childhood Cancer Day

Today is International Childhood Cancer Day.
After completing Valentine's Week we should discuss the most important topic that is Childhood Cancer.
                                 
What is ICCD?
=> It stands for International Childhood Cancer Day and it is founded in 2002 by CCI ( Childhood Cancer International ). There are 171 members in the organization in 88 countries and is committed to working with its international partners those are WHO ( World Health Organization ), SIOP, and others, towards the global goal of reducing childhood cancer and cancer-related pain and suffering.
                                                    
How common are childhood cancers be and the most frequent types of cancers in childhood are?
=> Don't worry childhood cancer is rare, representing between 0.5% to 4.6% of all the cancers. But can happen to anyone so be safe or give precautions to your children and to yourself and have monthly full-time body checkup for all your family members. The ratio varied between 50 to 200 cases per million children across the globe.
                                                   
 In general, Leukemia constitutes about a third of all cancer in childhood. The other most common cancer types are Malignancies and Lymphomas. Cancer of breast, lung, colon or rectum, typically occurred in adults, is extremely rare in children.
                                                    

Can childhood cancer be detected early?
=> Childhood Cancer initially have non-specific signs and symptoms, which may lead to late detection. In developed and developing countries children are usually subjected to close parental and medical surveillance. But in underdeveloped countries and in a rural area there are fewer medical facilities and parental guide so they are in a more dangerous situation.
                                         
How to prevent cancer for your family?
=> 1: Don't use tobacco and cigarette or have more distance from the smokers or prevent your mouth or nose with your handkerchief.
2: Eat a healthy diet or have plenty of fruits and green vegetables.
3: Maintain a healthy weight and be physically active don't be obese.
4:Protect yourself from the sun due to its harmful UV Rays which can cause skin cancer.
5: Get vaccinated and go for a monthly full-time body checkup.
