President's Day is also known as Washington's Birthday who was the first president of the United States. On the Honor of him, there is a holiday in the USA.

=> His full name is George Washington who was an American political leader, military general and the Founding Father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. He was born on February 22, 1732, in Pope's Creek, Colony of Virginia, British America and died on December 14, 1799, at the age of 67 in Mount Vernon, Virginia, the U.S. His wife name is Martha Dandridge and he adopted 2 children named John and Patsy.

Is President's Day a Public Holiday in the United State?
=> Yes, in many states it's a national holiday. Nonetheless, business is open and many stores are also open with discounts and sales. Indiana observes Washington's Birthday holiday in December. Some of the states pay particular attention to Abraham Lincoln's birthday.

Why on 17th not on 22nd?
=> The US federal holiday is on the 3rd Monday of February, every year, but the record shows that George Washington Birthday is on 22nd February. The holiday is celebrated on Washington's birthday under the Gregorian calendar.
